Job Title: Instructor, Frontend Engineering

Location: Lagos, Nigeria (Remote)

Job Role

• Would you like to be a part of an impact project, revolutionizing education and employability in Africa? • As an AltSchool Africa Instructor, you will take the lead in the facilitation of real-time, web-based learning related to specific and assigned learning tracks. You will be responsible for students’ positive learning experience by providing operational, teaching, and technical support to students while ensuring a high level of engagement and interactivity.
• You will also ensure that students understand concepts taught in the curriculum, guide project work and be proactive in assisting students, making sure they have an understanding of what they should be working on, ensuring the correct principles are being learned and applied towards the accomplishment of their project goals.
• To be successful in this role, you are a software engineer knowledgeable about industry trends in web development and frontend engineering, you are capable of bringing the learning experience to life, through the sharing of your own personal/industry experience and the use of educational/facilitation tools and techniques.
• You have what it takes to manage online learning platforms, you love research and are open to learning new topics within our course curriculum. You enjoy wearing multiple hats, working on projects involving a variety of people across different functions and your love for people development will be very helpful in inspiring our students to move through the challenges of learning a new skill set.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

• Teach AltSchool Africa’s Frontend Engineering track, with a focus on (React.js, Vue.js)
• Assist in reviewing and identifying existing learning resources/content for curation as per the course-specific needs.
• Lead the delivery and facilitation of course content; in-class exercises, project coordination, and participate in lecture discussions
• Prepare students for success by providing coaching in all aspects of their journey towards becoming critical thinkers and problem solvers
• Support AltSchool Africa’s data-driven model by tracking students’ access to the LMS
• Answer content-related questions submitted by students; provide live summaries and recaps of learning material
• Create relevant learning content, documents, or practice activities e.g slides, instructional aid, games/role play, quizzes, assignments, quizzes.
• Support students’ learning by facilitating and monitoring online discussions
• Monitor students’ engagement, provide online student support including feedback on their performance.
• Respond to student queries on certain technical issues, related to assignments, grades and connectivity.
• Coordinate and track the course enrolment and participation process, viewing course logs, being able to determine which students are enrolled in the online course, and know-how to add and drop students from the course.
• Conduct code reviews; grade class exercises, projects and publish assessment feedback after grading is complete.
• Follow industry trends related to Backend Engineering and keep students updated with relevant industry information
• Generate appropriate reports student metrics to document the learning experience.

Qualifications

What we are looking for

• 3+ years of professional work experience as a Software engineer
• A strong understanding of one or more of these Technologies: React.js, Vue.js
• Teaching or mentoring experience: Working or volunteering at tech boot camps, training schools, experience as a tutor, mentor or an online instructor are all great experiences.
• Fluent in English – It’s the language we teach in
• Familiarity with online teaching, Learning Management System (LMS) or content management system (CMS)
• Ability to explain complex topics in a non-technical way.
• A Love for the fast-paced culture with the ability to self organise and manage your work

Job Title: Technical Program Manager

Location: Lagos (Remote)

Job Role

• Organize and manage learning and development programs that align with the company’s objectives and mission.
• Create and manage technical learning curriculums that are up to date with market trend
• Coordinate with cross-disciplined teams to make sure that all parties are on track with learning requirements, deadlines and overall program timelines.
• Support the Learning and Development team behind ‘The Alt School Africa’ to create a new generation of software engineers while delivering a quality experience.
• Identify and initiate partnerships with organisations that are able to deliver quality technical content and support to the Pipeline program.
• Track in real-time the progress of all students across all LMS, and ensure they are consuming the contents and are making significant growth.
• Support all instructors and mentors in their responsibilities while tracking mentor, and instructor progress weekly using performance reviews frameworks.
• Identify and recommend collaborative ways to improve the internal & external learning processes and programs.
• Support with launching and execution of special and/or new project or programs within the school.
• Serve as a bridge between the Learning and Development Director and instructors.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience supporting EdTech learning and development programs within the software development field or other related fields.
• 3+ years of Software engineering experience with proficiency in at least 2 languages.
• Experience managing a team of instructors.

Responsibilities

• Supporting all program teams with overall program timelines.
• Interface with some stakeholders involved in the various programs and effectively deliver value to all.

Job Title: Associate Video Editor

Location: Lagos, Nigeria (Remote)

About the Role

• As an Associate Video Editor,  you will work closely with the Creative Team, Content Marketing team, and other key stakeholders to brainstorm and create high quality video content that reflect the Alt School brand and ambition.
• You will bring your knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques to life.
• You will be a great fit for this role if you have a creative mind and storytelling skills, with an unusual way of thinking and getting things done. Your ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged is of great importance on the job.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assemble raw footage, encoding and upload for different platforms
• Work with art and creative teams to select audio, video, colours, animation, etc. for graphic design
• Create final videos from start to finish.
• Edit video footage for promotional and educational purposes
• Color Correcting and improving footage
• Archive and store digital properties of the company.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree or other verifiable certificates in Film Studies, Cinematography, or related field
• 3+ years relevant experience
• Proficient in Adobe After Effects
• Proficient in Adobe Suites such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator
• Vast knowledge of Production and Post-Production Workflow
• Style frame and Storyboard to develop visual style concepts
• Understanding of different video codecs and best practices.
