Head of Programs (Remote) at She Leads Africa

 

 

Job Description
  • The Head of Programs will be responsible for organizing and generating revenue from SLA offline/online programs, managing projects from end to end, developing relationships with brands and identifying additional revenue streams for the company.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Events:

  • Organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Work closely with project sponsors, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives.
  • Secure event partnerships that involve research, conference calls, proposals and in-person meetings.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for official events and programs.

Project Management:

  • Overseeing the successful launch of products
  • Understanding how different projects interlink and overlap
  • Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, and produce program reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Liaising with the marketing and communications team to increase awareness of programs

Strategy Formulation:

  • Developing and implementing strategies for the programs team, including developing a robust risk mitigation plan for different projects

Team Management:

  • Manage the programs team for optimal return-on-investment, and coordinate and delegate cross-project initiatives
  • Communicating and coordinating event targets with the Marketing and Sales team

Budgeting and Financing:

  • Managing budgets and reporting on fund allocation

HGCP:

  • Conduct customer development research to identify the skills and training our community is looking for and integrate that into our programs
  • Develop content for the platform
  • Manage and engage with relevant content partners, set-up meetings, and drive short and long-term goals for the success of the platform

 

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has 3+ years of proven experience in a project lead role
  • Has a thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Exhibits proficiency in budgeting and finance management
  • Has experience curating educational content/curriculum designing
  • Has exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Has recorded success working in a startup and had direct involvement with improving industry partnerships
  • Has the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Has exceptional communication skills, and demonstrated ability to build high-trust relationships
  • Has experience guiding cross-functional teams in a highly iterative, rapidly evolving agile environment.
  • Can work independently and is happy to join a virtual team
  • Has a can-do attitude and is flexible enough to take on any task we throw at them
  • Is passionate, hungry and eager to build SLA into a world-class institution
  • Has high professional and ethical standards i.e. understands that there’s no such thing as African time – you’re just late
  • Is comfortable taking and giving feedback
  • Has a good sense of humor – because we’ll be working hard so we better keep each other entertained
  • Is comfortable working in a startup environment where we’re making the rules up as we go along

Commitment:

  • Full time position

Hours of work:

  • 50 hours per week, usual working hours are from 9:00am – 6:00pm WAT.
  • There will be a requirement from time to time to start work earlier or finish later as the role
    dictates.
