Job Title: Maintenance Coordinator – Farms Utilities

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Position Summary

  • The Maintenance and Utility Coordinator is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and optimizing all maintenance activities and utility operations relating to poultry farm equipment.
  • This role ensures the reliable performance of all farm systems—ventilation, feeding, watering, electrical, and mechanical equipment—while also overseeing budget planning, cost control, and preventive maintenance programs. The position requires strong technical expertise, hands-on ability, effective leadership, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all poultry farm equipment.
  • Carry out and supervise corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain equipment such as:
  • Ventilation fans and cooling pads
  • Brooders, heaters, and lighting systems
  • Feeding and watering systems (nipple lines, feed conveyors, augers, dosing pumps)
  • Sensors, controllers, and automatic environmental control systems
  • Generators, water pumps, and electrical panels
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and implement timely solutions.

Utility Systems Management:

  • Oversee daily operation and servicing of generators, water distribution systems, boreholes, pressure pumps, and power supply systems.
  • Monitor generator running hours, fuel consumption, and ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Ensure continuous availability of water, electricity, and environmental control essential for poultry welfare.

Budget Planning & Cost Control:

  • Develop annual maintenance and utility budgets covering equipment, spare parts, manpower, and utilities.
  • Track and control maintenance expenses, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
  • Analyze maintenance cost trends and recommend improvements for cost reduction.
  • Prepare monthly budget performance reports for management review.

Spare Parts, Inventory & Asset Management:

  • Plan and manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and records for all critical equipment components.
  • Coordinate procurement requests and ensure timely availability of essential items.
  • Manage asset records including equipment history, service logs, and warranty documents.

Team Supervision & Coordination:

  • Supervise maintenance technicians, electricians, plumbers, welders, and external contractors.
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure quality and timely completion of maintenance operations.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and supervision to team members.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across multiple poultry farm sites when necessary.

Equipment Performance Optimization:

  • Analyze equipment performance data and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Recommend upgrades or replacement of outdated or inefficient equipment.
  • Support automation projects and integration of modern poultry equipment technologies.

Safety, Compliance & Biosecurity:

  • Enforce strict maintenance safety procedures and lock-out/tag-out protocols.
  • Ensure team members use appropriate PPE and follow safe work practices.
  • Adhere to farm biosecurity protocols to avoid cross-contamination between farms.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and relevant regulatory requirements.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, breakdown reports, and equipment service history.
  • Prepare periodic reports covering maintenance performance, utility consumption, equipment efficiency, and cost analysis.
  • Present recommendations to management for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • ND/HND/BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in maintenance roles within poultry farms or agro-industrial settings.
  • Strong background in poultry equipment (ventilation, feeding, watering, heating systems).
  • Experience in budgeting, cost control, and maintenance planning is essential.
  • Experience supervising technicians and managing multi-site operations is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Good understanding of electrical, mechanical, and utility systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination abilities.

  • The role ensures that all civil works—including repairs, renovations, structural integrity checks, and preventive maintenance—are completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
  • The position requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and excellent coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities
Civil Maintenance & Repair Coordination:

  • Oversee all civil maintenance works, including masonry, carpentry, concrete works, painting, plumbing, roofing, drainage, and structural repairs.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance requests and ensure timely response and resolution.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings, structures, and facilities to identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Planning & Preventive Maintenance:

  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all civil structures and facilities.

  • Ensure proper site preparation, work supervision, and adherence to safety standards during project execution.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

Position Summary

  • The Senior Regulatory Officer will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements relating to product registration, licensing, inspections, and permits.
  • The role requires strong engagement with NAFDAC and other relevant government agencies to ensure smooth operations and timely regulatory approvals.
  • The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
NAFDAC Registration & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Manage and oversee the full NAFDAC registration process for both imported and locally manufactured products.
  • Coordinate documentation, submissions, follow-ups, and renewals to ensure seamless registration and timely approvals.
  • Issue and process annual NAFDAC permits for all relevant products and operations.

Relationship Management with NAFDAC:

  • Maintain strong, productive relationships with NAFDAC officials at the head office and zonal offices.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of the NAFDAC internal workflow to facilitate smooth movement of files and approvals.
  • Serve as a friendly and professional representative of the company to key NAFDAC departments including R&R, FSAN, VMAP, Pharmacovigilance, Pharma, Accounts, Protocols, PID, Oshodi Lab, Yaba Lab, and others.
  • Conduct regular visits to the NAFDAC South-West Directorate in Ibadan to handle ongoing regulatory assignments.

Inspection Coordination:

  • Accompany NAFDAC personnel during warehouse inspections, ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare required documents, guide teams during inspections, and support resolution of any queries raised.

Issue Prevention & Problem Resolution:

  • Maintain close professional relationships with key NAFDAC contacts to identify potential regulatory issues early and resolve them proactively.
  • Provide timely updates, risk alerts, and solutions to management regarding regulatory matters.

Multi-Agency Liaison:

  • Collaborate with other government agencies when required, such as:
    • Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN)
    • Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON)
    • National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA)
    • And other relevant bodies
  • Ensure compliance with cross-agency regulatory expectations for business operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Public Health, or related fields.
  • 5–7 years relevant experience in regulatory affairs, preferably within FMCG, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or food industries.
  • Strong existing relationships with NAFDAC officials is an added advantage.
